Ballard
Seattle
Washington
1. The Ballard WA
LocksAn engineering marvel,
luscious gardens, and
rolling grassy hills
leading to the water all
combine to make this
venue the best place to
go in Ballard Seattle WA
Washington. It's one of the most
visited attractions in the Ballard Seattle area and
it doesn't cost a thing,
free entry!
Hiram M. Chittenden
Locks
The Ballard WA Locks are the most
popular destination
along the Lake
Washington Ship Canal.
They are made up of 2
navigational locks, a
dam and spillway, a fish
ladder, a botanical
garden, and a regional
visitor center. The
locks allow vessels to
pass from fresh water
Lake Washington, into
the salt water of Puget
Sound. An amazing place
and an amazing
engineering feat. The
visitor center operates
under two seasonal
schedules, winter and
summer. Winter hours
(October 1 through April
30) of operation are
from 10 am to 4 pm,
closed on Tuesdays and
Wednesdays. Summer hours
(daily, May 1 through
September 30) are from
10 am to 6 pm. Free
guided tours are
provided from March 1
through November 30.
Call the Visitor Center
at (206) 783-7059 for
tour times and
additional information.
2. Golden Gardens
Beach
Coming in a close second
to the Locks is Golden
Gardens Beach. This
piece of Ballard WA real estate is a true
sandy beach with
volleyball and
basketball courts, and
some of the most amazing
sunsets you will see as
the sun sets over the
water and Olympic
Mountains in the
distance.
Golden Gardens
Want to relax on a sunny
day? Just go to Golden
Gardens. The nice beach
invites you and your
friends to play
volleyball, go kayaking,
or have a barbecue. And
don't miss taking a
romantic walk on the
beach watching the sun
set over the Olympic
Mountains.
3. Majestic Bay
TheaterThe last of a dying
breed, a locally owned
movie house showing
first run movies, the
Majestic Bay is the
jewel of downtown
Ballard WA. Beautifully
remodeled, this is one
of the best places to
view a movie in all of
Seattle Washington!
Majestic Bay Theater
The newest jewel in
Ballard WA is the Majestic
Bay Theatre. Built on
the spot of the old Bay
Theatre, the new Bay has
multiple screens showing
a mix of first run and
classic films.
Conveniently located in
the heart of Ballard,
just down from Ballard Blossom, and
across from Bergan
Place, the Majestic Bay
is close to many great
restaurants and shops.
So make your movie
experience a night out.
Come early for dinner at
one of Ballard's
wonderful restaurants,
see a great film is a
spectacular movie house,
then grab some coffee or
dessert at one of
Ballard's great coffee
shops. Check out the
Majestic Bay Theatre web
site for
show times, online
ticket purchasing, and a
history of the great old
building, a great
example of Ballard real estate, and
"old world meets new world" charm.
